Edinilen bilgiye göre, yangın Genç ilçesi Döşekkaya ve Kiğı ilçesi Darköprü köylerindeki ormanlık alanlarda başladı. Yangının fark edilmesi üzerine Orman İşletme İl Müdürlüğü ve jandarma ekiplerine haber verildi. Bölgedeki rüzgarın yer yer etkili olduğu öğrenilirken, yangını söndürme çalışmalarına hızla başlandı.
Yangın söndürme çalışmalarında, 2 bölgeye toplamda 5 arazöz, 2 ilk müdahale aracı, 4 iş makinesi, 3 itfaiye aracı ve 45 personel sevk edildi. Ayrıca jandarma, belediye ve özel idare ekipleri de yangın söndürme çalışmalarına katıldı. Yangın söndürme çalışmaları tüm hızıyla devam ediyor.
